5,000 Miles by July: Chasing Status with Alaska Airlines

After successfully achieving Platinum and Gold status with American Airlines, I’ve made the decision to transfer my loyalty to another Oneworld partner, Alaska Airlines. To facilitate this transition, I completed a status match, which granted me MVP status and Oneworld Ruby tier. However, one of the requirements to maintain my status is to fly a total of 5,000 miles by July 1.

In addition to this initial goal, reaching 20,000 miles will secure my MVP status for the entirety of 2026. To achieve this, I’ve planned several status runs this spring, including ambitious trips that will take me from Chicago to both Seattle and New Orleans in a single day. This will involve multiple short flights, but it’s a worthwhile investment in my frequent flyer journey.

To wrap up the month, I will be flying to Seattle. I’ll spend the night there. This will ensure I’m refreshed for the next day’s adventure. I will enjoy a hearty breakfast at one of Seattle’s acclaimed cafés. Then, I will board the longest domestic flight in the lower 48 states. This flight travels from Seattle to Miami. Once I arrive in Miami, I plan to cap off my day with dinner in South Florida. I will take full advantage of my new travel plans. This will help me work towards my goal.

My first trip is Saturday, May 10.

Stay tuned!
